Smart canvas now also offers a pageless format for Docs, a new email draft template for Docs and a Google Maps smart chip so that users can preview a Maps link directly in Docs. Google will also soon launch intelligent suggestions in Sheets to help users correct formulas. Google offered a few stats to illustrate the traction smart canvas has had with customers. Usage now exceeds the usage of comments in Docs, the company said – more than six million checklists and six million smart chips are added to documents each week via smart canvas....

The developers of Handbrake just announced the 0.10 update to their extremely popular and useful Open Source video transcoding product. Originally focused on ripping DVDs, the product now can be used for transcribing many different types of files/codecs to almost any other. Today’s headliner updates include H.265 and VP8 encoding. The LibAV AAC encoder is now the default as FAAC has been removed. This encoder is adequate for most, but until it improves a bit further, we have enabled support for the FDK-AAC encoder also....

As demoed by Apple on stage, the latest instalment of Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero Live, is now available on Apple TV. Apple and Samsung headed back to court yesterday over the patent fight that started back in 2011. After Samsung finished its opening statement today, Apple brought its first witness to the stand, VP of product marketing, Greg Joswiak. Yesterday was consumed with finding unbiased jurors.
